Learning Comment:
From researching John Hughes I have learnt a lot about how Coming of Age film opening sequences have been made and the different aspects of mise en scene, which are essential to make the scene successful. I have also learnt about different techniques used while filming to captivate the audience and ways of introducing the narrative and main characters to the viewers. For example, introducing characters and their backgrounds by using aspects of mise en scene instead of dialogue; such as costume, body language, props and facial expressions. This gives the audience and immediate interest in the characters and a grip to the narrative without giving away the plot of the film.
